Enugu Govt. Announces Monthly Clean-up Exercise

The Enugu State Waste Management Authority (ESWAMA), has declared Saturday, April 27, statewide sanitation exercise between the hours of 7am and 10am.

This is contained in a statement signed by Andreas Gebauer, Special Adviser to the Governor on Wastes and issued by the State Commissioner for Information and Communication, Mr Aka Eze Aka on Tuesday in Enugu.

According to the statement, ESWAMA wishes to inform the general public that this month’s clean-up exercise will hold on Saturday, 27th April 2024, between the hours of 7am and 10am.

“As usual, movement of people and vehicles during the exercise is prohibited, except those on essential services, who must provide a valid means of identification or ESWAMA’s official Pass, as offenders will be prosecuted at the environmental mobile court of law.

“Those that engage in sporting activities around the Okpara Square and any other location within the metropolis are being advised to postpone their sporting activities and join the clean up exercise or risk being arrested and prosecuted too.

“Meanwhile, the Authority appeals to the general public to bag their wastes properly before disposal and ensure they pay their ESWAMA bills at any commercial bank closer to them,” the statement appealed.
