Soludo Celebrates Emeka Offor, Urges Action Against Povert

Sir Emeka Offor Fondation has distributed 40,000 bags of rice to widows in 179 communities of Anambra State.

The Governor of Anambra state, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo was among the guests that attended the event which was also used to celebrate the 65th birthday of the Founder of the Foundation, Sir Emeka Offor in Oraifite, Ekwusigo Council Area.

The group also distributed textbooks to over 200 educational institutions.

The event brought together, business leaders and experts.

Speaking at the Occasion, Governor Soludo commended the efforts of the Foundation in promoting social and environmental sustainability, and encouraged businesses and people across the state to follow their example, adding that everyone has a role to play in protecting the environment and improving lives.

Governor Soludo said that by choosing to celebrate his birthday in Oraifite, Anambra with thousands of widows, students and the vulnerable, Sir Emeka has demonstrated that Anambra is the place to be.

While stressing that in a time like, when the country is passing through food price inflation, people should learn to take collective action and share what they have with one another, noting that the resources at government’s disposal was not enough to meet the demands of everyone.

He assured that government would continue to play its part, calling for support his Public-Private-Community-Partnership model.

For the Special Adviser to the Founder of SEOF on Partnership, Philanthropy and Humanitarian Activites, Ijeoma Okoro, the event was a significant step in promoting CSR and encouraging sustainable business practices.

The joy of some of the beneficiaries knew no bounds as they appreciated the fondation for remembering them.

Former President of the Senate, Ken Nnamani, Speaker of Anambra State House of Assembly, Somtochukwu Udeze; Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Solo Chukwulobelu; Chief of Staff to the Governor, Mr Ernest Ezeajughi.

Others are Principal Secretary to the Governor, Joachin Anaeto; and widows, attended the event which also featured music presentation cutting of birthday cake and distribution of bags of rice to widows, free textbooks to students, as well as march past.
