Ogbodo Tours Council Areas, Reiterates Mbah’s Commitment To Rural Development

Enugu Commissioner for Local Government Affairs, Rural Development, and Chieftaincy Affairs, Deacon Okey Ogbodo, during his visit to Uzo-Uwani LGA

Enugu State Government has reiterated its commitment to ensure that development took part in the state especially the rural areas that had suffered negligence over the years.

The Commissioner for Local Government Affairs, Rural Development, and Chieftaincy Affairs, Deacon Okey Ogbodo, stated this at Umulokpa, Uzo Uwani LG Council Secretariat on Wednesday in Enugu.

Ogbodo who was on tour to Local Government Areas in Enugu State said the visit was simple and instructive aimed at bringing the council chairmen up to speed to key into the development agenda of Peter Mbah led administration to make the state a safe place for investments.

He said government was focused to improve the lives of the people through transformation of rural communities and ensuring peace at the grassroots.

The commissioner added that government was determined to expand several rural communities with access to essential services to better the lives of rural dwellers and fast-track their activities.

He said the government’s target was to ensure that the people in the rural areas who are predominantly farmers get the best of their potential.

Ogbodo further assured the people that Gov. Peter Mbah’s administration would keep his promise to deliver sixty- million- litre of water daily to the people before 180 days, despite challenges towards meeting the target and ensure enhanced security.

The commissioner commended the local government chairman for his support for Mbah, during last governorship election in the state.

He assured the traditional rulers and other stakeholders that state government would reconstitute its leadership structure in line with the Constitution as well as fortified them to stem the tide of insecurity in various communities.

“We thank you for your wisdom, sagacity, and your leadership style and if not for your leadership, things wouldn’t have been so.

“We will reward you for what you have done.

“You made the right choice. And We brought you good message, that this government is on track to succeed”, he said.

Ogbodo was accompanied on the visit by other top government officials was received by Uzo Uwani LG Chairman, Chukwudi Nnadozie; alongside his deputy, Pius Okeagu; Secretary of the LGA, Michael Anikezie; Councilors, traditional rulers, President Generals, civil servants, amongst others.

Responding, the Uzo Uwani LG Chairman, Hon. Chukwudi Celestine Nnadozie, commended the Commissioner for the visit, assuring him that the council would continue to support effort to make life meaningful and boost socio-economic prosperity in the state.

Speakers who spoke on behalf of the LGA as thanked the Commissioner for his visit include the council chairman, Nnadozie; PDP chairman of the LGA, Hon. Jude Ifeanyi Okonkwo; state Woman leader of the PDP, lady Vera Ezugwu; National Ex-officio of the PDP, Princess Nwanneka Okoro.

Others include Dr. Romanus Ezike; former commissioner for Agriculture, Hon. Mathew Anene Idu; former chairmen of the LGA, Hon. Cornel Onwubunya and Chief Anthony Chigbo.
