The Commissioner for Information and Communication, Enugu State, Aka Eze Aka, has described the supreme court judgment which upheld the election of Dr. Peter Mbah, as the duly elected Governor of the State during the March 18, 2023 election Governorship poll as a great victory for democracy and the confirmation of the desire of the people.
Aka in a statement said that the verdict of the Supreme Court, the highest court in our Country was the ultimate triumph of the will of the people of Enugu State as expressed at the Polling Units.
He reassured the people of Governor Peter Mbah’s resolve to tackle poverty in the state and prioritize development in all sectors.
He maintained that Mbah’s avowed commitment to move the state’s economy from $4.4 billion to $30 billion by upscaling activities in the production and agriculture sectors was already materializing.
Commissioner Aka Eze Aka enjoined the people of the state to support Governor Mbah’s development initiatives and be part of the present effort to transform the social and economic landscape of the state.
He reminded the opposition that the supreme Court ruling has ended all litigations on the 2023 Governorship election in the state, stressing that what the people looked forward to is good governance and urged them to co-operate with Governor Mbah to make Enugu State better in all ramifications.
Recall that the apex court on Friday affirmed the election of Peter Mbah as the governor of Enugu State.
The apex court resolved all the issues in his favour.
A five-member panel led by Justice Mohammed Garba held that the Labour Party and its candidate, Chijioke Edeoga, failed to prove the allegations of substantial non-compliance with the electoral law.
The court also dismisses the allegation of NYSC certificate forgery, one of the basis for which the Labour Party governorship candidate wanted the court to disqualify Governor Peter Mbah.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had declared Dr. Mbah of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as the winner of the March 18, 2023 election.
