It has come to the notice of Enugu state government of wicked, evil and malicious social media publication alleging that His Excellency, Dr Peter Mbah, ordered the arrest of a certain blogger, Precious Eze.

According to the publication, the said Precious Eze was said to have been abducted by security agents from his home in Lagos last week and is being held in an underground cell of the State Security Service, SSS, otherwise known as DSS, in Lagos.

The publication alleged that Precious Eze was arrested on the orders of Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu state who could no longer tolerate the Journalist reporting on him.

Though the said report is existing at the realm of the creator, it is however important to put the record straight.

Enugu Governor, Dr Peter Mbah did not order the arrest of any blogger or Journalist. If he were truly nabbed by the Security agencies, he should be in a position to explain to the public what led to his alleged arrest.

It is on record that Governor Mbah maintains good relationship with media outfits and media practitioners within and outside Enugu State.

It therefore would be unbelievable, wicked and malicious for anybody to associate the Governor of Enugu State, Dr Peter Mbah with any action that will undermine the freedom and liberty of Journalists in Nigeria.

We challenge the peddlers of the fake information of Governor Mbah’s involvement in the arrest and incarceration of Mr Precious Eze by the DSS to provide proof to that effect.

For the sake of emphasis, Governor Mbah is friendly, open and accommodative to journalists. Enugu State government under Governor Mbah has never interfered or hindered journalists in and outside the state from carrying out their legitimate and constitutional duties as the government believes strongly in the doctrine of free press and freedom of speech.

It is doubtful if His Excellency had ever met this Mr. Precious Eze as to even get concerned about him and his insignificant writings.
