Igwe Asadu Visits Sen. Jim Nwobodo [Photos]

The Chairman, Enugu State Council of Traditional Rulers, His Royal Majesty, Igwe Samuel Ikechukwu Asadu, paid a courtesy visit to the former governor of old Anambra State, Chief Senator Jim Nwobodo, at his country home in Amechi Awkunanaw, Enugu South Council Area.

Igwe Asadu, who is also the immediate past Chairman of the Southeast Traditional Rulers Council, member Board of Trustees, Council of Traditional Leaders of Africa (COTLA), described Nwobodo as an icon, a father figure, and an embodiment of greatness whose wisdom and experience he seeks to learn from.

During the visit, Igwe Asadu expressed his deep admiration for the former governor, acknowledging his contributions to governance, particularly in the areas of education, industry, healthcare, sport and Agriculture.

He recounted how Nwobodo’s developmental initiatives as governor of old Anambra State, which then included present-day Enugu, Ebonyi, and Anambra States, had positively impacted his career as a qualified nurse.

Igwe Ogadagidi as he fondly called revealed that he worked in several hospitals established by the former governor before traveling abroad to continue the service for 28 years before returning to Nigeria and being made a traditional ruler.

The royal father explained that his visit was an opportunity to receive blessings from Nwobodo and to express gratitude for the support he has received since assuming office.

He appreciated Nwobodo for his support on the platform given to him to serve as Chairman of the Enugu State Traditional Ruler’s Council, by His Excellency, Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, pledging to contribute meaningfully to the development of the traditional institution in the state.

The tradition ruler also commended the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development, and Chieftaincy Affairs under the leadership of Commissioner Deacon Okey Obodo, for their commitment to strengthening traditional leadership structures in Enugu State.

In his response, Chief Nwobodo welcomed Asadu and his entourage, expressing his admiration for the traditional ruler’s dedication to service.

He prayed for God’s guidance and success in his tenure, assuring him of his continued support.

The former governor also lauded Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah’s leadership, noting that Mbah’s developmental strides aligned with his own vision for Enugu State.

He described Igwe Asadu as a great choice for the leadership of the traditional council and encouraged him to continue his efforts in improving the institution.

The visit concluded with warm interactions as members of Igwe Asadu’s cabinet accompanied him.

The traditional ruler and his team were received by Nwobodo’s family, with his wife ensuring their entertainment.

The meeting was marked by mutual appreciation and a shared commitment to furthering development in Enugu State’s traditional institutions.
