Igbariam Primary School Represents Enugu In JETS Competition As Enugu South Council Boss Restates Commitment To Education

The Igbariam Street Primary School II, Achara Layout, Enugu South LGA, will be representing Enugu at the national Junior Engineers, Technicians & Scientists, (JETS) Quiz competition in Abuja.

The quiz competition is being organized by the Federal Ministry of Innovation, Science and Technology .

The pupils would be tested in core basic science subjects including, Basic Science, Basic Technology, Basic Mathematics and Basic Computer for primary category.

Mrs. Constance Okorie, the Education Secretary, Enugu South Council Area, announced this when she led the management of the school on a courtesy visit to the Chairman of the Council, Hon. Caleb Ani.

Mrs. Okorie explained that two pupils of the school, l Proper Kamsiyochukwu Ugwu and Esther Chiamanda Okey Edeh won the just concluded annual JETS Quiz competition organized by the Enugu State Universal Basic Education Board (ENSUBEB) for primary schools in Enugu.

This, she said, was held on October 16, 2024, at Ekulu Primary School Enugu.

She further explained that, on Oct. 23 Igbariam Street Primary School, 1 and 2 got 1st and 2nd position for Enugu East Zone to present the state in Abuja.

“It is with humility and a sense of responsibility that we inform the Executive Chairman that our School has been consistent in making Enugu South Local Government proud over the years in both curricular and extra curricular activities,” she stressed.

The Head Teacher, Igbariam Street Primary School, Achara Layout, Enugu, Mrs Rita Okafor, narrated that, “In all the six levels of the competition Local Government children precisely Igbariam Street Primary School II, Achara Layout, Enugu has been emerging winners”.

She said the winning would not have been possible without the motivation, encouragement and prompt response to their demands by the education secretary, Mrs Constance Okorie.

Responding, Hon. Caleb Ani, the Chairman of Enugu South LGA, congratulated the pupils on their performance as well as the dedication of the Head Teacher in nurturing them.

“We are so much happy and on behalf of the Local Government, we are saying congratulations for the work, for the victories. We are optimistic that the competition you people are going in Abuja will be successful. You are going there to make Enugu South and indeed Enugu state proud.”

“We will continue to support to the best of our ability and knowledge to ensure that other children are motivated and encouraged to key into that, because it is not easy to represent a school let alone Local Government and even coming to the stage of entire state, it’s a very big phase.

Ani also commended the Education Secretary for her steadfast support and encouragement which had earned the pupils and the school national recognition.

He reiterated his administration’s commitment to prioritize education,
to foster a brighter future for the upcoming generation, adding that the performance of the pupils was one of the pillars of his administration’s agenda.
