Enugu State Governor, Dr. Peter Mbah, has urged stakeholders in Enugu South Council Area to take ownership of the ongoing projects in the area by monitoring the contractors as well as giving them the required support and protection.
Dr Mbah represented by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG) Prof. Chidiebere Onyia, made the call during a town hall meeting held at the council’s headquarters, Uwani on Wednesday.
The governor also advised councillors to live up to expectations.
He said the engagement with the stakeholders in the council Areas was in line with his commitment to addressing community challenges.
While stating that his administration is still warming up to begin the work of infrastructural development in Enugu, Mbah listed some of the ongoing and completed projects across the state.
He charged the councillors to be visiting the project sites in the area three times weekly to ascertain the level and quality of work being done, bearing in mind that the projects were being executed with the common wealth of the state.
The governor maintained that no part of the state would be left behind in his developmental trajectory and reiterated his administration’s commitment to making Enugu a premier destination for business, investment, tourism and living.
He commended the Chairman of the council, Hon. Caleb Ani, and his deputy for their readiness and commitment to work towards the state’s development goals.
He praised their proactive approach, emphasizing that their dedication reflected the collaborative spirit needed for Enugu’s progress.

In a remark, Deacon Okey Ogbodo, the Commissioner for Local Government, Rural Development, and Chieftaincy Affairs, thanked Mbah for attending the meeting.
He reaffirmed the local government’s support for the governor’s agenda and promised continuous collaboration to ensure the realisation of the state’s development goals.
Earlier, the Executive Chairman of Enugu South LGA, Hon. Caleb Ani, who described the governor as a disruptive innovator and visionary leader, commended him for bringing several human oriented projects to his people.
He promised to replicate the quality leadership of the governor in the council area and assured of his continued support.

The meeting attracted traditional rulers, members of the State Assembly, councilors, commissioners, market leaders, religious leaders, town union presidents,party leaders, administrators, and a representative from Ohanaeze Ndi Igbo.
