The Councillor representing Amechi East Ward I, Enugu South Local Government Council, Hon. John Okechukwu Egbo, has emerged the Leader of the 10th Assembly of the Legislative Arm.
His emergence followed the first plenary of the Legislators at Uwani Headquarters of the Council.
Aproko Republic, reports that, Hon. Ejike Ugwu, was elected the Deputy Leader during the session held, Tuesday, November 05, 2024 at the Council’s Legislative Chamber.
Others include: Hon. Emmanuel Egbo, Majority Leader, Hon Chinwendu Okoye Deputy Majority Leader, Hon. Geraldine Ebere Agbo Chief Whip and Hon Ginika Nwosu, Deputy Chief Whip.

The leader also inaugurated six (6) committees for the effective operation of the oversight functions of the House.
Hon. John Okechukwu Egbo in his response, thanked the people of Enugu South Council and the Councilors for electing him as their leader to pilot the affairs of the house for the next two (2) years.
He assured the people of Enugu South that the house will surely make by-laws that will be productive, and promised that they will do everything possible to move the area to the next level.
Egbo thanked God for the opportunity, the council Chairman, Hon Caleb Ani and his team for the leadership, and promised to serve promising to discharge his duty with every sense of dedication, fairness and transparency vowing to run an all inclusive governance.
“All we’re going to do here will be for the overriding interest of the people.” We will align our activities in accordance with the vision of the state.
He thanked the Enugu State Governor, Dr. Peter Mbah, for providing leadership and the former governor of the old Anambra State, Senator Jim Nwobodo, for his guidance promising not to disappoint them.

The Councillors were charged by the Executive Chairman, Enugu South LGA, Hon Caleb Ani, to take the business of legislation seriously as the bye-laws passed by the House will form the bedrock of policies for the governance of the Local Government.
He commended the legislators for their conduct during the election of the principal officers, assuring them of his cooperation.
