Former members of the Enugu State House of Assembly, comprising former Speakers and Principal Officers, have lauded Gov. Peter Mbah’s developmental strides in the area of infrastructure.

Dr Alex Ogbonnia, the Chairman, former Members of the Enugu State House of Assembly, gave the commendation in a statement on Tuesday in Enugu.

According to Ogbonnia, the former members had agreed that the the policies and programmes that are espoused by the Enugu State government are disruptive, innovative and endearing.

While congratulating Mbah for his victory at the polls on March 18 and his victory at the Enugu State Governorship Elections Petition Tribunal on Sept. 21, amongst others, the group described Mbah as an imaginary leader, whose governance model is commendable.

“In our assessment, we found him a visionary. He is a thoughtful, reflective and an imaginative leader.

“It is disheartening that our neighbours, Ebonyi and Anambra States, have left Enugu State behind on the road regarding infrastructure.

“A major consolation is that the Governor has recently launched a robust Enugu State road construction and rehabilitation revolution; the first of its kind in Enugu State,” Ogbonnia said.

He added that “It is hoped that before the end of the year, 2023, the people of Enugu State will heave a sigh of relief.”

The former chairman stressed that Mbah’s vision intends to leverage on the huge horizontal inter-jurisdictional externalities as a result of the contiguity of Awka Capital Territory, Anambra State, with Ugwuoba, a boundary community in Enugu State.

“Unfortunately, the previous administrations in Enugu State could not tap into this amazing opportunity; a low hanging fruit for that matter.
