The Fadama road project has brought unprecedented joy and relief to beneficiaries in nine communities in Enugu State.

The rural access roads, rehabilitated by the Fadama platform under the Nigeria Community Action for Resilience and Economic Stimulus (NG-CARES) programme, has significantly improved livelihoods and enhanced economic opportunities.

Residents of Nara, Ezinesi Oduma, Eha-Amufu, Amaechi Awkunanaw, Ogbeke Nike, and Ikpa Nsukka market, among others, have testified to the positive impact of the roads project.

The rehabilitated roads have eased the transportation of farm produce to markets, reduced losses, and increased income for farmers.

According to the beneficiaries, the roads have provided easy access to markets, making it easier for buyers to visit their farms and purchase farm produce. This has not only increased sales but also reduced transportation costs, enabling farmers to retain more profits.

“Before the road was rehabilitated, we spent a lot of money transporting our produce to the market,” said Mr. John Ike, a farmer from Ezinesi Oduma community. “But now, with the good road, buyers come directly to our farms, and we sell our produce at better prices.”

The rehabilitated roads have also linked the communities to neighboring villages, enhancing opportunities for trade, commerce, and social interaction.

The roads have improved access to the communities’ aggregation centers and poultry processing centers, enabling farmers to process and market their produce more efficiently.

“The road has opened up new opportunities for us,” said Mr. Joseph Anyim, from 9th mile Poultry Processing Centre. “We sincerely appreciate this initiative; it’s a commendable one indeed.”

We are grateful for this life-changing initiative,” said Mrs. Ozougwu Eucharia from Ogbeke Nike farm cluster.

This initiative is part of Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah’s broader commitment to rural development and poverty reduction. By investing in rural infrastructure, the project aims to improve agricultural productivity, enhance market access, and promote economic growth in rural communities.

With these success stories, the Fadama platform under NG-CARES programme has demonstrated its dedication to transforming the lives of rural communities and promoting sustainable development.
