In a strategic move to reposition Enugu South Local Government Area, the Chairman of the Council, Hon. Caleb Ani, has commenced a comprehensive overhaul of security architecture in the area.
Recall that Governor Peter Mbah while inaugurating the council chairmen recently tasked them to ensure peace and security in their council areas, noting that the state had zero tolerance for crime.
Ani standing on this, has since commenced consulting and engaging critical stakeholders and security agencies in the council to foster collaboration among them to ensure safe environment particularly during the yuletide.
The Chairman has spearheaded the recovery of security vehicles that were hitherto abandoned across the various communities.
He has initiated repairs on the damaged vehicles, working with mechanical engineers to restore them to service.
Additionally, the installation of security cameras within the council headquarters is currently underway, including installation of street light.
Ani is committed to enhancing the efficiency, capacity, and effectiveness of security operatives through the provision of operational equipment and fostering stronger synergy among security agencies and the people.
He also emphasized plans to boost the morale of local vigilance groups by improving their operational capacity through training.
On road infrastructure, the Chairman has embarked on massive rehabilitation of rural roads in the area, and maintaining community roads in key locations, aiming to promote economic growth and social interaction through improved transportation networks.
The grading has since commenced with Amechi-Uno community taking the first hit.
