The Chairman of Enugu South Local Government Area, Hon. Caleb Ani, Wednesday, inaugurated a committee to oversee the upcoming Enugu South Unity Cup Football Tournament.
The tournament, set to kick off on December 9th, 2024, and end on January 3rd, 2025 at different centres within the council area, aims to foster unity and sportsmanship among the youths.
The Council Boss in his address, highlighted the importance of sports in promoting unity, peace, and development.
He urged the committee members to dedicate themselves to ensuring a successful and impactful tournament.
He expressed confidence in their ability to deliver a memorable event.
“This tournament will aid our resolved strategy of catching the young talents in their primes. So, I encourage you to employ your wealth of experience and swing into action as the intent of your proactive measures towards making this tournament successful is paramount”, he concluded.

In his response, the Chairman of the committee, Hon. Edennamani Noble Chijioke, who doubled as Senior special assistance SPA to the Chairman on Youth and Sports expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to serve.
He acknowledged the crucial role sports play in uniting communities and fostering positive values, pledging to work tirelessly with members of the committee to ensure a fair, exciting, and well-organized tournament.
“We will employ our wealth of experience in order to achieve a tournament that will not only showcase the talents of our young footballers but also foster a sense of unity among them” he stated. “We will work diligently to ensure the safety and well-being of all participants and spectators, and we are confident that this tournament will be a resounding success.” Edennamani said.
