The Enugu State Government has postponed planned controlled explosion at the failed bridge on Enugu-Port Harcourt expressway earlier scheduled for Monday, November 27, 2023, citing logistics challenges.

This was contained in a statement issued on Monday by the Commissioner for Information and Communication, Aka Eze Aka and his Works and Infrastructure counterpart, Gerald Otiji.

The statement explained that a new date for the exercise would be made public as soon as possible.

The explosion is part of efforts by the state government to fix the bridge.

“The announcement that there would be a controlled explosion at the failed bridge along Enugu PH express way did not after all take place as widely publicized.

“This is regrettable as the authorities of Explosive Ordinance Disposal (EOD) the  anti-Bomb units of the police in charge of the operations and other concerned relevant bodies have declared that there were logistic challenges that hindered the operations on Monday 27th November, 2023.

“The controlled explosion shall now take place at a later date which shall be duely communicated to the general public. The circumstances are highly regretted.”
