On Thursday, 31st October, 2024 members of the prestigious Ezumezu Ndigbo Royal ordained Heritage (E: NIROH), visited Nri to seek the approval of the leader of Igbo society, the traditional ruler of Nri Kingdom, in having a unified new yam celebration come next year in Nri community.

Nri community is in Anaocha Local Government Area of Anambra State and is regarded as the traditional home of all Igbos, as it is believed that all Igbo migrated from the community.
The traditional ruler of the community, represented by the Regent, Prince Ikenna Onyesoh, some members of Nze Na Ozo and some Ndi Eze Igbo present, accepted this as a welcome development, while urging all Igbos to accept it and work towards having a unified new yam Festival in Nri Kingdom as one big family.
The Regent of Nri Kingdom, Prince Ikenna Onyesoh thanked members of E:NIROH for bringing up this idea while also promising to push with his powers to make sure it became a reality.
Some of the dignitaries present is the Vice President of Nri Progress Union, Hon. Chief Chibuzo Oli, Chief. Engr. Emelife among others.
