Soludo Places N10m Bounty On Anambra Burial Attackers

The Anambra State governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, has announced a N10m bounty each for information leading to the capture of each of the gunmen responsible for the killing that occurred in a compound at Umuike, Ubahuekwem community in Ihiala Local Government Area of the state.

According to reports, no fewer than seven persons, comprising five police officers and two civilians lost their lives when some yet-to-be-identified gunmen invaded the area on Monday.

It was gathered that some family members of the deceased were making preparations for a burial ceremony scheduled to hold on January 2 when suddenly, the hoodlums invaded the place and started shooting sporadically, leading to the death of the victims.

The assailants were said to have opened fire at the gathering, targeting security operatives stationed near the local government headquarters as they fled the scene.

Soludo, who announced the bounty during a condolence visit to the family of the late Bridget Akanma Onuchukwu, expressed deep sorrow over the tragedy that resulted in the unfortunate deaths of seven individuals.

The information about Soludo’s visit and the bounty was disclosed in a press statement issued by his Press Secretary, Christian Aburime, on Thursday.

The statement read in part, “Speaking at the event, Soludo extended his heartfelt condolences to the families and friends of the victims and reassured the community that those responsible for this violent act would be brought to justice.

“We will not rest until the perpetrators of this heinous crime are apprehended. All of them will pay for it.

“We are on their trail as we speak. Anybody that will avail us of information that will lead to their arrest will be appreciated. Ihiala security is currently being discussed and will be unveiled soon.”
