JUST IN: Over 120 Rendered Homeless As Fire Razes Popular Mosque In Ilorin

A fire outbreak occurred at Megida Onikanhun Compound, Edun Isale, Ilorin South Local Government Area of Kwara State, affecting a mosque and leading to the displacement of 120 individuals.

The Head of Department of Media and Publicity of the fire department, Hassan Adekunle, reported that the incident resulted in the complete destruction of 44 rooms in a building.

The Kwara State Fire Service responded to the emergency on January 15, 2024, at 11:08, but damages had already occurred.

Despite challenges, firefighters successfully controlled the situation within an hour and extinguished the fire.

Investigations revealed that the fire originated from someone setting refuse ablaze, unintentionally spreading to the nearby compound.
