Hurray! His Excellency, Dr. Peter Mbah Is 52

Enugu state governor is 52! He deserves more than three hearty cheers to celebrate this new age which he attained while in office as the leader of a great state such as Enugu.

As a quintessential politician, public administrator, businessman and lawyer, Governor Mbah has imprinted indelible marks in different areas of human endeavour.

In just two years above half a century of his life cutting across Oil and Gas, Finance, Maritime, Politics, Legal fields, and in the process, he has given many people reasons to be happy. Thus, in the view of F. Scott Fitzgerald, he has become a personality with “unbroken series of successful questures.”

Dr Peter Mbah was born on March 17,1972 to the 8th of Chief Gilbert Ekete Mba of Ashishi, Owo in Nkanu East Local Government Area of Enugu State.

He had his primary and secondary education at Army Day School Bori Camp Port Harcourt in Rivers State and Owode High School Owode Egba Ogun State, before proceeding to University of East London United Kingdom where he bagged a Bachelor Degree in Law.

Desirous of higher degree, he enrolled and earned a Master’s Degree in Maritime and Commercial law in 2004 from Lagos State University. He also attended different Business Schools including, IESE Business School, University of Navarra, Barcelona Spain for an MBA to prepare himself for global business and management as well as top leadership position.

Governor Mbah belongs to a number of professional bodies among which are the Nigerian Bar Association, Nigeria Institute of International Studies, and a fellow of Certified Institute of Public Administration.

He was conferred with an honorary doctorate degree in Political Science by the foremost Catholic University in Nigeria, Godfrey Okoye University Enugu, in 2021.

He served at various times as the Chief of Staff, Government House, Enugu State, and Commissioner for Finance and Economic Development during the administration of Governor Chimaroke Nnamani, where presumably he cut his teeth in governance.

He was recognized by Newswatch Magazine as one of the ten outstanding commissioners in Nigeria in 2004. Dr Peter Mbah emerged as the Governor of Enugu State in the March 18, 2023 general election and was sworn-in on May 29, the same year as the fifth democratically elected governor of the state.

Since then, he has brought his over 28 years innovative and strategic experience in professional and business world to bear on governance in the state; recording uncommon achievements in uncommon ways but in strict compliances with global standards and practices.

The verifiable breakthroughs and achievements he has registered in different sectors of the state economy with his team within a short period as the Governor of the state have attracted many accolades and garlands for him from several quarters including the Sun Newspaper.

The achievements are visible in road construction, public water supply and sanitation, education, agriculture, security, and improved ease of doing business.

Before he ventured again into active politics, now, to contest for the position of governor, Dr Peter Mbah had become the founder and Chief Executive Officer of Pinnacle Oil and Gas, a frontline conglomerate worth millions of dollars in Assets and Investments.

He is married to Her Excellency, Chinyere Mbah, and the marriage is blessed with four children.

He is a good listener with a good heart; a highly meticulous and humble person, a great inspirator, a man with a superb drive, and bullish confidence.

This is the noble man that Enugu State citizens, their friends, and well wishers within and outside the shores of Nigeria are celebrating today in a grand style.
