Gov. Mbah Offers Scholarship To 11 Year Old Brutalised Girl

The Enugu State Governor, Dr. Peter Mbah, has approved the rehabilitation of 11-year-old house help, Miss Happiness Nwafor, who was allegedly abused by her guardian, a lawyer, in Anambra State, Mrs. Adachukwu Cukelu-Okafor.

Okafor was alleged to have used a hot-pressing iron and knife to burn and chop in pieces, the private part of her house help, who mistakenly touched the private part of her child while bathing him.

In a statement by the Commissioner for Information and Communication, Aka Eze Aka, Governor Mbah also approved an award of scholarship, up to University level to the child.

The victim, Happiness Nwafor, is a native of Umuanigo clan, Enugu Oweri, Owelli Court, Awgu LGA, Enugu State.

The statement reads in part, “this report became a matter of grave concern to the Governor of Enugu state who had vowed even before the incident that no child should suffer such abuse, torture, neglect or denial especially the right to sound education and go scot-free.

“This unfortunate incident also attracted the attention of the Enugu State House of Assembly which went ahead to raise it as a matter of urgent Public Importance.

“The minor who was abused and brutally tortured by Mrs Adachukwu Okafor, an Anambra based Lawyer is to have the cost of rehabilitation and education up to University level borne by the Enugu state government.

“Miss Happiness Nwafor has been invited to the Ministry of Children, Gender Affairs and Social Development, Enugu state for immediate realization of His Excellency’s approval.
