Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State has announced that the construction of the much-anticipated Fourth Mainland Bridge is scheduled to commence in the first quarter of this year, with a projected start date “by the end of March or April.”
This revelation was made during the Lagos West Senatorial District Town Hall Meeting held at the Balmoral Convention Centre, Sheraton, Ikeja, where the governor delivered his keynote address.
Sanwo-Olu emphasized that the construction of the bridge will be carried out in phases, assuring that landlords and tenants affected by the demolition of structures during the construction will receive proper compensation.
In addressing the financing challenges for the project, the governor stated, “We’ve done extensive work on the bridge. But we are at the crossroads of where to get the real financing for that kind of project. We’ll need to be very very creative.”
He further affirmed the commitment to breaking ground for the construction of the Fourth Mainland Bridge within the first quarter, meaning by the end of March or April.
