The Chairman of Enugu South Council Area, Hon. Caleb Ani, Friday, inaugurated the LG’s Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support Project (L-PRES) Committee.
The inauguration underscores the
Chairman’s commitment to agriculture development and food security.
L-PRES is a World Bank assisted project in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, aimed at improving productivity and commercialization of targeted livestock production and also strengthening the resilience of livelihoods.

Speaking while inaugurating the committee, the council chairman, Hon. Caleb Ani, said his government supported the implementation of the project because of the critical role it would play in transforming lives.
He noted that the project would equip farmers in the area with modern technology and resources for improved yields and incomes.
“This initiative aligns perfectly with the state government’s vision for a self-sufficiency in food production and prosperous Enugu State.” he said.
The chairman outlined the responsibilities of the committee, which include sensitizing farmers on the benefits of the project, identifying viable programs for local engagement, and coordinating ward committees to ensure widespread participation.
Hon. Ani expressed confidence in the committee’s ability to make the project a success, praising their expertise and dedication.

Responding, the chairman of the committee, Hon. Innocent Egbo, expressed gratitude to the chairman for appointing him to lead the committee.
He pledged the committee’s commitment to supporting farmers through training and resources.
“We understand the importance of this project and its impact on our communities. We are committed to ensuring it benefits our people.” he stated.
Other members of the committee include Hon. Nnabuike Egbo, Secretary, Dr. Nnabuike Ngene, Hon. Anthony Egbo, Hon. Barr. Kenneth Nnyammah, Hon. Sammie Echi Agbo, Hon. Chinedu Agbo, and Mr. Ifeanyi Ani.
The initiative is expected to significantly enhance agricultural productivity in Enugu South.
