Enugu South Council Pays Last Tribute To Donatus Ani

The workforce of Enugu South Local Government Area, led by the Executive Chairman, Hon. Caleb Ani, Tuesday, at the council headquarters, Uwani, paid their final respects to the late Hon. Donatus Amechi Ani.

The remains of the deceased were received alongside his family members during a solemn ceremony.

Hon. Donatus Ani, who hailed from Isiagu in Ugwuaji Awkunanaw community, was a former Deputy Mayor of the council and a legislator in the Enugu State House of Assembly.

In his speech during the laying-in-state, the council chairman, Hon. Caleb Ani, said that late Ani would not be missed just by his family but Enugu South as a whole because of the contributions he rendered for the development of the council.

He urged his family to find solace in God during this time of loss. “In situations like this, it may seem like the world has fallen apart, but I urge you to take heart and look up to God, the author and finisher of our faith,” the Chairman said.

Ani prayed for the peaceful repose of the deceased’s soul and the success of the burial arrangements.

The Secretary of the Enugu South chapter of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), Comrade Chijioke Nnamchi, also paid tributes to Hon. Ani, describing him as a hardworking and friendly leader.

He recalled the late Ani’s efforts in improving the welfare of the local government workforce during his tenure.

Comrade Nnamchi encouraged those he left behind, particularly his immediate family to accept the irreplaceable loss, noting that death is an inevitable journey for all.

He requested continued solidarity from the council and other stakeholders during the burial ceremony scheduled for December 13, 2024.

The event was attended by the Leader of the Enugu South Legislative Arm, Hon. John Egbo, the Head of Personnel Management (HPM), Josephine Agu, members of Enugu South Nigeria Union of local government employee (NULGE) members of PDP and friends of the family of Late Chief Hon. Donatus Ani.

The ceremony marked a solemn moment for the local government as it bade farewell to one of its distinguished former leaders.
