Enugu Police Arrest One Suspected Cable Vandal

Police in Enugu State on Thursday said they arrested one Obieze Chigozie, m” aged 23, for for allegedly vandalising electric transformer.

A statement by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Daniel Ndukwe Ekea, said Operatives serving in Trans-Ekulu Division, on April 12, 2024, around 5:30 a.m., swiftly responded to credible information and arrested suspect at Damijah Flyover while his cohorts escaped.

Ekea said, “the suspect and his accomplices were alleged to have vandalized an electric power transformer in an estate at Damijah Flyover, Trans-Ekulu, Enugu.

He said a yet-to-be ascertained lengths and sizes of armoured cables and a big cutting tool the suspect and others at large used in vandalizing the transformer were recovered.

According to him, a preliminary investigation indicates that the suspect confessed to having been previously involved in the act of vandalism, with others at large. He will be arraigned and prosecuted once investigations are concluded.
