Enugu Notorious Phone Snatcher Bags 3 Years Imprisonment

Police in Enugu State said they have arrested, one Promise Happy ‘m’, aged 18, for stealing.

The police spokesman in Enugu, Daniel Ndukwe in a statement on Thursday said its operatives serving at the Central Police Station (CPS) Command, on March 8, 2024, at about 7 p.m., arrested the suspect at Christ Chemist Roundabout, Enugu.

Ndukwe said the suspect was arrested after snatching an Android phone from a passenger in a moving mini bus.

He said investigation revealed that the suspect, who has been on the Police Criminal Watchlist for similar offences of stealing, is a native of Ozonogogo in Agbor Local Government Area of Delta State, but resides at New Garriki Market, Awkunanaw, Enugu.

Ndukwe said the suspect confessed to the crime, stating that he and his gang members at large have been perpetrating the criminal act of phone-snatching since 2022, while the snatched blue-coloured Redmi Android phone was recovered from him.

He said upon conclusion of investigation, the suspect was on March 14, 2024, arraigned in the Enugu North Chief Magistrate Court of Enugu State, and was sentenced to three (3) years imprisonment.
