Enugu Govt. Issues Letters To Newly Reconstituted Council of Traditional Rulers

The Enugu State Government on Monday issued lettes to the 8 man Principal Officers of the newly reconstituted Council of Traditional Rulers in the state to pilot the affairs of the council with effect from March 29.

Speaking at the event which took place at the office of the Commissioner for Local Government, Rural Development and Chieftaincy Affairs, Deacon Okey Ogbodo, said the officers would be inaugurated later.

According to him, the event is strictly for presentation of appointment letters pending the formal inauguration which will be done on a later date that will be communicated in due time.

He congratulated the newly appointed officers and reminded them that they had been appointed based on merit and track records at the pleasure of Gov. Peter Mbah.

“You are hereby requested to bring your wealth of experience to bear in their respective roles in the state.

The Chairman of the council, HRH Igwe Samuel Ikechukwu Asadu(Edem Ani, Nsukka LGA) speaking on behalf of the newly elected officers thanked Mbah.

While describing Mbah as disruptive innovation driven governor, the royal father said the appointment was opportunity for them to serve Enugu State and Nigeria at large, promising that the council would be loyal and supportive to his administration.

He also thanked the commissioners, the legislators and the people of the state, stating that he would be a servant leader and that as change has come into Enugu State, through Mbah’s administration, the council would also bring changes.

This, he said would be in the area of the welfare of traditional rulers in the state which was his primary assignment as most of them have been neglected at old age and sickness in the time past.

His Royal Highness, Igwe Julius Nnaji of Nike was appointed as 1st Deputy Chairman of the council, while His Royal Highness, Igwe G. N. Madu, and His Royal Highness, Igwe Hebert Ukuta, were appointed as the 2nd Deputy Chairman and 3rd Deputy Chairman respectively.

Other members of the council include: Igwe Fidelis Nwatu, Grand Patron; Igwe Abel Nwobodo, 1st Grand Patron; Igwe Augustine Uzobuenyi Otiji, 2nd Grand Patron and Igwe H. C. Eze, 3rd Grand Patron.
