Enugu CP Patrols Three LGAs, Visits JSIT, Others

The Commissioner of Police, Enugu State Command, Mamman Bitrus Giwa, yesterday, extended his routine surveillance and confidence-building patrols to rural communities in Isi-Uzo, Nkanu East, and Enugu East Local Government Areas of Enugu State.

Daniel Ndukwe, the command’s Spokesman in a statement said communities visited during the patrol in Isi-Uzo LGA include Ikem, Isu, and Eha-Amufu, with a brief stopover at the Isi-Uzo Police Division in Ikem.

“While in Eha-Amufu, CP Giwa was received by the Chairman of Isi-Uzo LGA, Barr. Obiora Obeagu, who led him to the Joint Security Intervention Taskforce (JSIT) Camp at Ogbete-Mgbuji in the community. The JSIT, comprising personnel from the Police, Military, DSS, and local security groups, was recently established to address security challenges, particularly herders/farmers-related crimes, across Eha-Amufu communities of the local government area.

“Addressing the police component of the JSIT deployed to the camp, CP Giwa charged them to remain diligent, courageous, and professional in enforcing the mandate of the taskforce, while maintaining synergy with personnel from other participating security agencies.

“The Commissioner also extended his patrol to Oruku and Umuode communities in Nkanu East LGA, as well as Akpaoga-Nike, Obinagu, and Emene communities in Enugu East LGA, assessing the prevailing security situation in those areas.

“CP Giwa reiterated that the strategic and proactive patrols, which he initiated upon assuming duty in Enugu State, are aimed at bolstering security and reinforcing public confidence, and will be sustained. He reaffirmed the unwavering commitment of the Enugu State Police Command under his leadership to maintain law, order, and safety across the state, while appealing for continued support and cooperation from the citizens.

“The Commissioner was accompanied on the patrol by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, DCP Gregory Itobore; Udenu Area Commander, ACP Bernard Amaga Ukwa; heads of tactical and operational units; and other senior officers of the Command.
