Popular Nigerian highlife singer Chinedu Okoli, better known as Flavour, has agreed with Jamaican reggae icon Buju Banton that afrobeats music lacks depth.
Naijaloaded recalls that Banton sparked controversy online after claiming in an interview that Afrobeats music is “f*ckery.”

He claimed that Afrobeats had no substance and would fade with time.

However, reacting in a recent episode of the ‘In My Opinion’ podcast, Flavour said Banton was on point.

According to him, Afrobeats lacks depth because all Afrobeats artists are lazy.

He said:

“I understand what Buju Banton is trying to say. Kids of today [present crop of afrobeats artists] don’t want stress; they just want to vibe,”

“Maybe Buju Banton is trying to awaken our spirit.”
