The traditional ruler of Edem-Ani Ogwugwu Ancient Kingdom, Nsukka Local Government Area of Enugu State, HRH Samuel Ikechukwu Asadu, says Gov. Peter Mbah’s Commissioners are smart given their performances.
The royal father stated this when he paid courtesy visit to the Enugu State Commissioner for Information and Communication, Mr Aka Eze Aka, on Friday in Enugu.
Asadu appreciated Mbah for what he described as his excellent appointment of commissioners to pilot the affairs of the state.
He said the governor selected people with much experience and had a lot to contribute for the progress and development of the state.
“Apart from the Commissioners, the emergence of Uche Ugwu as the speaker of Enugu State House of Assembly whom he said he has not met before but has noticed something in him.
“The governor does not pick anybody from the street, all of them are smart. The Commissioners I have talked with, the Deputy Governor and others are very good.
Rating the current government, Asadu said that the Mbah had done well within the short period saying that his rating was 100 per cent, advising the people of the state to exercise little patience with the government in terms of road congestions as a result of road constructions.
He said that the traffic would not last long and the people would enjoy those roads when completed
Addressing newsmen after the visit, the royal father said that the purpose of the visit was to wish the Commissioner happy New year and God’s blessings.
On how to how to align with the state government to increase the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), the traditional ruler said he was brought in, he would brought ideas and talk to embassies through his connections to invest on culture.
“I am exposed. I am one of those who think home; think home philosophy. We want to make Enugu State the best among equals. We want to make it the 3rd best city in Nigeria at least before we compete with Dubai.
“If he brings me in, I have this idea of IGR development, bring in most of the embassies, organise traditional carnival for all the embassies,” said.
Earlier in a welcome address, Aka, expressed delight and surprise that Asadu would have been in overseas enjoying himself but rather, he answered the call of his people and decided to stay around.
“I thank you so much for your steadfast. Somebody who is as wealthy as you are would have taken his time to go to overseas to relax and enjoy his wealth but you did not.
“May God lead you, grant you good health, wealth of knowledge and wealth and everything to make sure that people benefit from your generosity,” Aka said.
