Anambra 2025: Agulu Community Backs Ukachukwu, Ekwunife

It was a spectacle of unity and political enthusiasm on Sunday as the people of Agulu, in Anaocha Local Government Area of Anambra State, rallied in their numbers at the Central School field to declare their total support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu (Ikukuoma), and his running mate, Senator Uche Ekwunife (Iyom, Ifekaolodo), ahead of the November 8, 2025 election.

The gathering, which drew both indigenes and residents, turned into a carnival of sorts, reflecting the town’s resolve to align with the APC ticket. In a dramatic show of solidarity, the community announced a donation of ₦80 million to the Ikukuoma–Iyom Campaign Organisation, a gesture that political observers described as “a bold statement of confidence” in the APC team.

Okpala Donates ₦5m, Vehicles for Campaign

A prominent son of Agulu and former President-General of the community, Hon. Onyebuchi Okpala (Ike Agulu), made a personal donation of ₦5 million and presented a Sienna car to support campaign logistics. The community also collectively donated another Sienna vehicle to the campaign organization, drawing thunderous applause from the crowd.

The event also featured electrifying musical performances from Ichoku Agulu, a popular traditional entertainer, whose political-themed songs kept the audience dancing and chanting the campaign slogans.

Ukachukwu: ‘This is a Declaration of Faith in a New Anambra’

Taking the podium, Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu expressed gratitude to the Agulu community for what he described as an overwhelming show of love and faith in his candidacy.

“This is not just a donation; it is a declaration of faith in a new Anambra,” Ukachukwu said. “I assure you that your trust will not be misplaced. Under our administration, every community will feel the impact of good governance.”

He outlined key priorities of his campaign, including improved security, reliable power generation and distribution through joint ventures, and agriculture-driven economic development.

“Once we fix security and power, the economy will thrive, businesses will grow, and our youths will find jobs,” he stated.

Ekwunife Reassures on Development

In her remarks, Senator Uche Ekwunife, who received a rousing ovation, thanked the people for their enduring support.

She urged them to vote massively for the APC to secure the future of Agulu and Anambra at large.

She recalled her developmental projects in Agulu during her tenure in the National Assembly and assured that the Ikukuoma–Iyom administration would expand on those gains through more infrastructure and empowerment initiatives.

“Agulu has always played a key role in Anambra’s growth,” Ekwunife said. “With your continued support, we will deliver the peace, progress, and prosperity our people deserve.”

Analysts See Boost for APC Campaign

Political observers say the Agulu endorsement marks a significant milestone for the APC campaign, given the town’s political influence and the size of the financial backing announced.

As the event drew to a close, chants of “Ikukuoma! Ifekaolodo! APC is coming!” rented the air, echoing through the streets of Agulu, a sign, many say, that the political tide may be shifting in the party’s favour.
