The Executive Chairman of Enugu South Local Government Area, Hon. Dr. Caleb Onyema Ani, has urged residents to actively participate in the ongoing voter registration exercise, noting that the Permanent Voter Card (PVC), remains the most powerful instrument for influencing governance and safeguarding the people’s future.
In a statement released through his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Hon. Sammie Echi Agbo, the Chairman stressed that democracy begins with registration, describing the PVC as both “the people’s voice and their pathway to shaping a collective destiny.”
“Your PVC is your power. The road to a better tomorrow begins with this registration,” Ani declared, encouraging all eligible residents—especially first-time voters that turn 18 years, transfer, replacement of lost one, and those yet to be captured (Updates) in the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) database—to seize this opportunity without delay.
According to INEC, registration is ongoing at its office in Enugu South Local Government Area from Mondays to Fridays, between 9:00 am and 3:00 pm daily. The process remains free of charge.
Ani reminded citizens that beyond being a civic right, voter registration is a responsibility that ensures people can directly influence leadership at all levels. He called on community leaders, youth groups, women’s organizations, and civil society groups to intensify grassroots sensitization campaigns to encourage massive participation.
“This is the moment for Ndi Enugu South to make their voices count. Democracy thrives when people participate, and your vote is the key to change,” he emphasized.
With this mobilization drive, the Enugu South Council leadership is reinforcing its commitment to inclusive governance, ensuring that every citizen contributes to the deepening of democracy in Nigeria.
