High Chief Chris Nwafor a renowned philanthropist has extended his warmest congratulations to the entire Abba community on the occasion of this year 2025 new yam festival.
Chief Chris Nwafor also known as Ide Abba joins the people of the community in a time-honoured celebration of the annual New Yam Festival, celebrated the significant cultural event, which symbolizes the harvest season and the abundance of God’s blessings. The New Yam festival is a celebration of culture, tradition, and gratitude for a fruitful harvest, Ide Abba who however commended the community for upholding their rich cultural heritage and traditions, He prayed for a bountiful harvest and a year filled with growth, progress, and happiness for the community.
According to report from our correspondence, Chief Nwafor used his majestic palace courtyard as the venue to host Sons and daughters including neighboring community alongside the revered Nze n’ Ozo title holders, Ndi Ichie, and delegates from few villages that make up Abba, Ukpo and ifitedunu.
The event proceeded with heartfelt prayers of thanksgiving, as Chief Chris Nwafor performed the symbolic (iwa oji) the breaking of the kola nut, offering words of peace and prosperity for his people.
In keeping with tradition, he therefore followed with (itu mmaya), pouring libation to honour the ancestors, seeking their blessings on the land and its people.
As the event unfolds, various groups, village delegates, including Ndi Nze N’ Ozo both from Njikoka and dunukofia and other associations stepped forward to pay homage to high Chief Chris Nwafor the Ide of Abba community.
Among the distinguished guests were the Mayors of Njikoka local government area Barr. Chinedu Dominic Ononiba and his Dunukofia counterpart, alongside Hon. Jude Akpua PhD, Deputy Majority Leader of the Anambra State House of Assembly, and members of the Mayor’s team, attended the Festival (Iwa Ji).
