Woman Arraigned In Enugu For Allegedly Giving Fake Testimony

Loveth Alo Helen, has been arraigned at an Enugu Magistrate Court for allegedly giving a fake testimony at the Zion Prayer Movement Outreach led by Evangelist Ebuka Obi.

Helen was arrested following a petition alleging that she falsely claimed ownership of a five-bedroom duplex located at WTC Estate, Enugu which she allegedly presented during a testimony at Zion Prayer Ministry Movement Outreach in Lagos.

The suspect was seen in a viral video testifying with the footage of the building displayed at a Zion Ministry program, claiming that God had blessed her with the acquisition of the building.

She was arraigned on Tuesday before the Magistrate Court sitting in Enugu North Magistrate District, presided over by S.O. Chukwuaani, on a four-count charge.

The charge included obtaining by false pretence with intent to defraud, conspiracy, defamation of character, and attempting to commit a felony.

The suspect was accused of falsely presenting herself as the owner of a five-bedroom duplex located at Plot 16, WTC Estate, Enugu, belonging to one Arch. Emmanuel Asogwa.

The offence is punishable under Section 460 of the Criminal Code, Cap 30, Vol. II, Revised Laws of Enugu State of Nigeria 2004.

She was equally accused of defaming the character of one Evangelist Ebuka Obi, Architect Emmanuel Asogwa and the Zion Prayer Movement Outreach Nigeria by giving false testimony in the ministry, knowing same to be likely to injured the character and or reputation of Evang. Ebuka Obi, Arch. Emmanuel Asogwa, and the Zion Prayer Movement Outreach Nigeria.

The offence is also punishable under Section 326 of the Criminal Code, Cap 30, Vol. II, Revised Laws of Enugu State of Nigeria, 2004.

After the charges were read, she pleaded not guilty. The magistrate granted her bail at N1 million with a surety who must provide three years’ tax clearance.

The case, marked MEN/112/2025, between the Commissioner of Police and Loveth Alo Helen, was adjourned until April 9, 2025, for further hearing.

Speaking with journalists after the arraignment, Helen insisted that she did not plan or discuss the testimony with anyone and did not receive anything from anyone.

She claimed that she acted in faith, hoping to eventually acquire the property.

“I did the testimony claiming that I will get it, nobody arranged anything with me, I did not collect anything from anybody” she stated.

According to her, before she made the testimony, she went for inspection of the house “which we are processing to get and I told them that I’m coming “.
