The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Anambra State, Prince Dr. Nicholas Ukachukwu, has promised to run an inclusive government that equally values capacity and skill and not focus strictly on academic credentials, saying his administration will prioritize productivity, creativity, and grassroots engagement in public service and appointments.

Ukachukwu made this known in Onitsha North Local Government Area during a high-level consultation and campaign event, where he was warmly received by party stakeholders and community leaders.

“Every society has its challenges and advantages. My administration will consider both the educated and the slightly educated in our employment drive. People have ideas and skills critical to development, and those traits should never be ignored,” Ukachukwu said.

The meeting, held at Ezechima Primary School, symbolized a deep connection with the ancient Onitsha monarchy, as APC’s Onitsha North LGA Chairman Ezennia Chuka Ojekwe noted. “The monarchy of Onitsha is Ezechima. You’re being received here in Ezechima Primary School; it’s a sign that you are indeed blessed,” he said.

Ojekwe further emphasized that the forthcoming House of Assembly by-election in Onitsha North should serve as a litmus test ahead of the 2025 governorship election.

Adding his voice, Hon. Barr. Chigbo Enwezor, former member of the Anambra State House of Assembly and chairman of the Soludo campaign council in Onitsha North during the last election, declared that “the die is cast,” describing the current APGA-led government as a “bad market for Ndi Onicha.” He assured that this time, Onitsha will vote APC.

Also present was Prof. Bishop Emeka Nwamkpa, who prayed for Ukachukwu’s success and commended him for presenting a clear and compelling vision for the state. Former Onitsha LGA Chairman Hon. Bright Osemeka declared 100% support for Ukachukwu, while the APC state chairman urged constituents to vote wisely, reminding them that only the APC logo will appear on the ballot.

In her remarks, Deputy Governorship candidate, Senator Uche Ekwunife, CON, reassured the people of Onitsha of her deep-rooted connection to the ancient city. “I was brought up here. This is my second home,” she declared. “APGA has failed to meet the expectations of Onitsha North, and I believe that with Ikukuoma, we can restore Onitsha to its days of glory.”

She described Ukachukwu as “a man of capacity and enviable legacies,” referencing his election to the Federal House of Representatives for Abuja by Nigerians across different communities.

Other notable attendees included former Anambra State House of Assembly Speaker Rt. Hon. Rita Mmaduagwu, State APC Women Leader Maria Ejielo, Dozie Ikedife Jnr, Princess Esom Nwafor Orizu, Hon. Mrs Ify Chinwuko, Hon. Njideka Oraedum, Hon. Chuba Oranusi, and Hon. Sir Jude Emecheta.

Ukachukwu concluded by reaffirming his love for Onitsha: “This place is a familiar terrain for me. I have always dreamed of returning to Onitsha if I made it in life, and that time is now. I am home again, and I will return Onitsha to its pride of place.”
