The Senate on Tuesday suspended its plenary session in honour of Senator Okechukwu Ezea, representing Enugu North, who died on Nov. 18.

Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele moved the motion, citing parliamentary tradition that mandates the suspension of legislative activities upon the death of a sitting member.

The motion was seconded by Deputy Minority Leader, Senator Olalere Oyewumi.

Presiding, Senate President Godswill Akpabio directed the chamber to observe a minute of silence for the late lawmaker and announced that senators would visit the bereaved family to offer their condolences.
