See Pictures as Governor Soludo Visit Nri Community

Yesterday, Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo was in the Nri community for various events in the community.

The Governor started his visit to the community by first attending the burial of Former Chief Judge of Anambra State, Justice Umegbolu Nriezedi, after the burial he went for the Commissioning of Nri – Agbanabo – Nimo road, before proceeding to Eke Market square for a solidarity rally organised by his party faithfuls and indigenes of the community.

Nri is a town in Anaocha Local Government Area of Anambra State and is believed to be the custodian of Igbo cultures and traditions.

The governor’s visit to the community breaks the jinx of having a sitting governor of Anambra state to visit the community and commission a project.

This is a welcome development in the Nri community as many applaud the governor for approving the road project, which connects Nri to Nimo.

This road project means a lot to Nri Community as it will aid more development in the community – members of the community pleads with the Governor not use it as just campaign promises as other politicians in the state used during their campaign tour to gain votes from the community and end up not doing anything.

This project, if completed, will mark a great achievement in the Soludo administration as this is the first time the community is experiencing a major project from the Anambra State government.

According to indigenes of the community, if it is getting towards election period, a politician will come and make a promise of doing the project if elected and after being voted, will end up not doing anything.  This has turned into a normal routine because of how important the project is to the community. Politicians use it as just bait to gain votes from the indigenes.

While most members of the community are very optimistic, this won’t be the case here as they saw the arrival of tractors and trucks in the community to begin the project.

The National Chairman of APGA, Sly Ezeokenwa, Anaocha Local Government Chairman, Comr. Rome Ibekwe, House of Assembly Member Anaocha II constituency in the state House of Assembly, Ejike Okechukwu, Cordinator APGA Solidarity Movement Anaocha, Chief Ogochukwu Egolum, APGA Chairman Anaocha, Chief Anthony Ugorji, among others were all in attendance for the event.

The president general of Nri community, Oba Romanus Okafor in his appreciating speech thanked the Governor for his visit, assuring him of the town support in his government while also pleading with the Governor for more inclusive of Nri community in his government.

Below are some of the pictures captured during the event.
