The Nigerian Red Cross Society, Enugu South Division, has appointed the Chairman of the Council, Caleb Ani, as its Grand Patron.
The leader of the team, Mrs. Eucheria Onwuegbuna, made this known when the group paid a courtesy call on the Chairman, at Uwani.
Onwuegbuna reiterated the commitment of the body to alleviating suffering and fostering collaboration with the council.
Others on the delegation include, Comrade Emeka Oko and Mr. Ezeh Chimaobi, the Youth Coordinator.
“We’re here to congratulate and welcome the chairman to the council, as well as formally designate him as the grand patron of the organization.”

Onwuegbuna highlighted the mandate of the Nigerian Red Cross Society, which includes alleviating human suffering, protecting and assisting disaster victims, and addressing local emergencies, conflicts, and violence within Enugu South LGA.
She added that the chairman’s leadership and support would assist the society fulfill its objectives.
“We are here to build a strong working relationship with you as our grand patron, it is vital to our operations,” she said.
In his response, the council chairman, Hon. Calab Ani, commended the group for the visit and expressed gratitude for the honor.
He recalled his experience as a member of the Red Cross during his NYSC in Oyo State, describing the organization as one that aligns with his passion for humanitarian work.
“I understand the sacrifices involved in your mission, and I assure you of my full support as we work together to make life better for the vulnerable in our society,” he said.
Ani commended the society for its efforts in responding to emergencies and alleviating human suffering.
He emphasized the importance of maintaining good working relationship with the Red Cross Society, while pledging his administration’s willingness to assist them succeeds in their activities.
“Your mission complements our vision for the people of Enugu South, and I look forward to our partnership achieving remarkable results,” Hon. Ani added.
The visit ended on a positive note with both parties expressing mutual commitment to a productive collaboration aimed at addressing the challenges faced by residents of Enugu South.
