Operatives of the Police Command in Lagos State have detained three suspects for alleged involvement in cult-related activities.
The Command’s spokesperson, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the arrests and detention to journalists on Monday in Lagos.
He said the suspects were apprehended in the early hours of March 28, at about 1:30 a.m., at Obawole in the Iju area of the state.
“The Command received a distress call reporting that a group of hoodlums, suspected to be cultists, were causing a disturbance and breaching public peace,” Hundeyin said
“Following the report, operatives swiftly mobilised to the scene, where three suspects, aged 21, 27, and 28, were arrested. Several others managed to escape.”
Upon searching the suspects, officers recovered one para pistol with a live round of ammunition, a locally improvised revolver, and three cups containing native soap.
Hundeyin noted that the recovered items had been registered as evidence.
He added that the suspects were currently assisting the police with valuable information that could lead to the arrest of the fleeing accomplices.
Investigation into the incident is ongoing, he said. NAN
