The Enugu State Commissioner of Police, CP Mamman Bitrus Giwa, has reiterated his firm resolve to sustain the Command’s renewed onslaught against criminals and violent offenders across the state.

This assurance followed the arrest of a 42-year-old man, Chinweuba Edeh, who allegedly robbed a Point of Sale (POS) operator of ₦70,000 at gunpoint in the early hours of October 17, 2025, at Oriemba Akpugo Market in Nkanu West Local Government Area.

According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Daniel Ndukwe, operatives attached to the Nkanu West (Agbani) Division swiftly responded to a distress call from the female victim and apprehended the suspect shortly after the robbery.

During the arrest, police recovered a locally made double-barrelled pistol loaded with two live cartridges, which the suspect allegedly used to commit the crime.

The police spokesperson said the suspect would be charged to court upon conclusion of investigations.

Meanwhile, CP Giwa has urged residents of Enugu State to remain vigilant and continue to support the police by promptly reporting criminal activities to the nearest station or through the Command’s emergency hotlines — 08032003702, 08086671202, 112, 09134666668, and 09134448093.

The Commissioner reaffirmed that the Command would leave no stone unturned in ensuring the safety and security of lives and property across the state.
