Police in Enugu State on Tuesday arraigned one Aliyu Saad, before the Enugu North Magistrate Court for allegedly uprooting and stealing a streetlight pole at New Artisan, Enugu.

The suspect was remanded in the Correctional Custodial Centre Enugu, pending further hearing.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Daniel Ndukwe, who disclosed this in a statement in Enugu, said the suspect was arrested on Thursday, August 8, 2024, around 4.30 a.m., by the Command’s operatives, serving in the New Haven Division.

He said his arrest followed the operatives’ swift response to credible information on the criminal act.

Ndukwe said the feat was achieved following the marching orders issued to police operatives of the Command, by the Commissioner of Police, Kanayo Uzuegbu, to clamp down on unrepentant criminal elements, including those hell-bent on vandalizing public infrastructures in Enugu State.

The CP charges the operatives to sustain the tempo, urging citizens to continue to be law-abiding, vigilant and promptly report criminals and their activities to the nearest Police Station or call the Command’s distress hotlines 08032003702.
