The Managing Director of the Enugu East Bus Terminals, Dr. John Egbo, has taken the lead in the All Progressives Congress (APC) electronic membership registration exercise in Enugu South Local Government Area, following the initiative earlier kick-started by the former President of the Senate, Senator Ken Nnamani, GCON, as the party formally rolled out its digital e-registration platform across the Enugu East Senatorial Zone.

Dr. Egbo registered at Ward 1, Amechi Awkunanaw, during the official flag-off of the exercise, describing the initiative as a landmark reform aimed at strengthening the APC’s internal democracy, unity, and organisational efficiency.

Speaking shortly after completing his registration, Dr. Egbo explained that the e-registration exercise was designed to authenticate the membership status of both existing and new members, while establishing a credible, centralised, and verifiable database for the party.

“This process is fundamental to the growth and credibility of the APC. It will enhance transparency, improve coordination at all levels, and deepen internal democracy by ensuring that our membership records are accurate and up to date,” he said.

A former commissioner in Enugu State and the current Managing Director of the Enugu East Zone Bus Terminals, Egbo urged party members across the state to actively participate in the ongoing exercise, stressing that widespread involvement would further entrench the APC at the grassroots and strengthen its competitive edge.

He also called on young people to seize the opportunity to formally align with the ruling party, noting that youth participation remains critical to leadership renewal and sustainable governance in Nigeria.

Dr. Egbo used the occasion to express strong support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, commending what he described as the President’s bold, decisive, and people-centred leadership.

According to him, the Tinubu administration has demonstrated uncommon courage in implementing difficult but necessary reforms aimed at stabilising the economy, strengthening institutions, and laying the foundation for inclusive growth.

He noted that policies such as fiscal reforms, renewed focus on infrastructure, social intervention programmes, and institutional strengthening were already repositioning the country for long-term development.

Egbo also praised Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State for what he described as a clear, development-driven governance philosophy anchored on strategic investments in infrastructure, transportation, security, water supply, and economic revitalisation.

“Governor Peter Mbah is laying a solid foundation for sustainable development in Enugu State. His approach to governance reflects vision, discipline, and a commitment to measurable results. In the same vein, President Tinubu continues to show leadership by taking tough decisions today to secure a better future for Nigerians,” he said.

He further declared his firm support for both leaders, vowing to mobilise grassroots support to ensure their continued success in future elections.

In his address, the Enugu State APC E-Registration Coordinator, Chief Flavour Eze, stated that the registration process involves the submission of members’ National Identification Numbers (NIN) and Voter Identification Numbers (VIN) for verification, followed by the confirmation of personal details and the capturing of photographs.

He said successful registrants are issued a printed temporary membership slip at the end of the process.

Chief Eze urged residents to fully participate in the registration exercise, explaining that it would enable members to benefit from forthcoming government empowerment programmes, including World Bank–supported initiatives, and emphasised that only registered members would qualify.

He added that the digital process has already generated renewed interest in the party, with many residents who were previously indifferent now indicating willingness to join.

“The turnout we are witnessing today is a clear sign that this initiative is resonating with the people. There is renewed enthusiasm, and we are confident that Ward 1 will record a significant increase in membership in the coming weeks,” he said.
