The Anglican Bishop of Amichi Diocese, Rt. Revd. Ephraim Ikeakor, has praised former Anambra State Governor, Mr. Peter Obi, for what he described as an uncommon display of integrity, compassion, and selfless service to humanity.

Bishop Ikeakor spoke during Obi’s visit to the College of Nursing Sciences at the Diocesan Hospital, Amichi, where the former governor donated ₦5 million to support ongoing infrastructural projects.

The cleric said he had yet to encounter a politician whose concern for the people remained as genuine and consistent as Obi’s. “Whether he is contesting election or not, he continues to support institutions that serve society. I have not seen a politician like him,” Bishop Ikeakor stated.

He added that Obi’s visits to the hospital had become an annual tradition and a personal demonstration of commitment to community development.

Speaking on behalf of the students, the Students’ Union Leader, Mr. Onyedika Otubaluonye, described Obi as a blessing to the school and the entire community. He recalled that the institution had previously received an ambulance and other facilities from Obi’s generosity.

Obi also visited Immaculata Girls’ Secondary School, Nnewi, where students gave him a warm reception. Miss Ilikandu Mmasichukwu, who spoke on their behalf, thanked him for past donations of buses, computers, and generators, while appealing for additional support, including a Coaster bus, a Hilux van, laptops for WAEC CBT exams, and solar power.

At St. Felix Hospital, Nnewi, Obi donated another ₦15 million to strengthen healthcare services. The hospital’s manager, Rev. Fr. Peter Ugochukwu, thanked him for his continued partnership and revealed plans to build a multi-specialty hospital and establish a School of Nursing and Midwifery.

Responding, Obi emphasized the importance of celebrating leaders who serve with sincerity and purpose. He lauded Bishop Ikeakor for his integrity and commitment to uplifting lives, describing him as “a cleric whose service I deeply admire.”

Addressing the students of Immaculata Girls’ Secondary School, Obi urged them to take their education seriously, saying, “With education, you can become another Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Prof. Chinyere Okunna, or Chimamanda Adichie.” He assured them of his continued support.

At St. Felix Hospital, Obi said his donations were part of his effort to strengthen institutions that serve humanity. He encouraged healthcare workers to remain steadfast in their mission to save lives.
