The Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide has commended President Bola Tinubu, for approving the South-East Investment Company (SEIC), a subsidiary of the recently constituted South-East Development Commission (SEDC).

The group also commended the Southeast National Assembly members that initiated the process leading to the approval.

Ezechi Chukwu, the National Publicity Secretary of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, made the commendation in a statement made available to the News Agency of Nigeria in Enugu.

NAN recalled that Tinubu had in July, granted executive approval for the establishment of SEIC.

Chukwu said SEIC was aimed at driving regional industrialisation, mobilisation of private capital, promoting regional competitiveness and enhancement of industrialisation in the Southeast.

He quoted the President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, Sen. Azuta Mbata, who commended President Tinubu for the noble initiative.

According to him, Mbata said he has no doubt that apart from its finance generation potentials, the initiative would serve as a viable stimulant for sustainable economic ventures in the zone.

He further emphasised that the private sector import of the company would be of value addition to the undertaking, urging for professionalism, transparency and accountability as key to the general success of the venture.

Meanwhile, Ohanaeze has condemned the exclusion of South-East and South-South from the reconstitution of the Chairmen and Directors-General of key strategic federal institutions by Tinubu administration.

It listed the institution to include Bank of Industry and other national agencies, noting that these important institutions constituted the frontline drivers of national reforms and economic re-invigoration of the country.

He said that they deserved inclusivity in the service and progress of Nigeria.

According to him, it is sad that such discriminatory appointments and lopsided considerations are reflective of gross compromise of national equity and principles of Federal Character as enshrined in the constitution.

“Ohanaeze Ndigbo therefore urges Mr President to find a way to address this still-redeemable imbalance for the sake of inclusivity, fairness and justice,” Chukwu said.
