A former Governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano, has refuted reports claiming that he has endorsed a particular aspirant in the forthcoming Anambra Governorship Election.
The rebuttal followed a viral social media post falsely attributing the endorsement to him.
The statement claimed that Obiano, while allegedly addressing the people of Anambra in Texas, US “urged them to go for the ultimate” and declared that a certain aspirant “will do excellently well as governor of Anambra State.
Dismissing the report in a statement signed by Paul Nwosu on Wednesday, the former governorship said the fabricated story is entirely false, misleading, and should be completely disregarded by the public.
According to him, Obiano neither addressed any gathering of Ndi Anambra in Texas nor granted any interview or issued any statement, publicly or privately, concerning the forthcoming election or any aspirant.
He noted that while Obiano is not apolitical and reserves the right to make a political choice, when he deems it appropriate, such declarations will be clear and won’t come from faceless third parties or shadowy platforms.
