The Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, commissioned the newly established Area D Command of the Corps in Nri, Anaocha Local Government Area of Anambra State.
The project was initiated and executed by the Nri Town Union under the leadership of Oba Romanus Okafor, as part of the community’s ongoing efforts to strengthen local security and empowerment.
Through a community-driven fundraising initiative, the town constructed the Area Command office, attached a three-room apartment, donated a shuttle bus for operational use, and provided four plots of land for personnel training purposes.
In his remarks, the Commandant General of the NSCDC, Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, OFR, mni, expressed deep appreciation to the Nri community for their outstanding support toward enhancing security infrastructure. He described the gesture as a model for community collaboration with national security agencies and pledged to deploy officers to the new command immediately upon his return to Abuja.
The commissioning ceremony attracted dignitaries from various NSCDC state commands, security officials, and notable stakeholders from Nri and neighboring communities who came to witness the event.
The establishment of the Area D Command in Nri is expected to boost security operations, foster community policing, and further strengthen the Corps’ presence in Anambra State.
