Nkerefi, a vibrant community in Nkanu East LGA of Enugu State, is set to make history this Sunday, September 28, as it rolls out the drums for its first-ever Economic Summit, a groundbreaking event that promises to redefine the town’s destiny.
The summit, holding at the Community Secondary School, Nkerefi, is an initiative of the Nkerefi Development Union (NDU), and will gather the crème of Nkerefi’s sons and daughters from across the world—alongside top government officials, captains of industry, investors, and thought leaders.
Described as a bold step into the future, the summit will spotlight Nkerefi’s untapped economic goldmine, from its lush farmlands suitable for large-scale rice, maize, cassava, and palm production, to opportunities in agro-processing, food industries, and rural industrialisation. With the right partnerships, Nkerefi could soon become the food basket and investment haven of the Southeast.
Delivering the keynote address is the erudite Hon. Justice Cyprian Ajah, while an impressive lineup of dignitaries—including the Governor of Enugu State, the Chairman of Nkanu East LGA, the National Assembly member for Nkanu East/West, and oil and gas magnate Dr. Uche Ogah—are expected to grace the historic gathering.
In what promises to be another high point of the day, the summit will also feature the official launch of the Nkerefi Ultramodern Civic Center, a landmark project designed to serve as the community’s premier hub for social, cultural, and developmental activities. The Civic Center, described as the “pride of Nkerefi,” will stand as a symbol of unity and progress for generations to come.
Speaking ahead of the event, the organisers described the summit as “a turning point for Nkerefi, a moment when we take our destiny in our own hands and open our doors to the world.”
For many, Sunday is more than a summit—it is the birth of a new vision. Nkerefi is set to showcase her strength, woo investors, unite her people, and announce to the world: “We are ready for the future.”
