Principal officers of the National Council of Traditional Rulers of Nigeria (NCTRN) have paid a courtesy visit to the Chairman, Enugu State Council of Traditional Rulers, Igwe Samuel Ikechukwu Asadu, Ogadagidi.
NCTRN play useful role in mediating between the people and the state, enhancing national identify, resolving minor conflicts and providing an institutional safety-valve for often inadequate state bureaucracies.
The delegation, led by the Council’s Director, Alhaji Kasim Yawa, was received by Igwe Asadu and his principal officers at his palace, Edem-Ani community in Nsukka Local Government Area.
The visit aimed at strengthening relations between the state traditional institution and the national body while fostering unity among traditional leaders across Nigeria.

In his address, Igwe Asadu expressed his delight at receiving the delegation, highlighting the importance of collaboration in advancing the role of traditional institutions.
He emphasized the need to foster unity, build bridges, and explore strategies to enhance and develop the traditional leadership structure in Nigeria.
He also used the opportunity to appreciate Governor Peter Mbah for entrusting him with the leadership of the Enugu State Traditional Rulers Council, a role that has enabled him to interact with distinguished figures contributing to national development.

Igwe Asadu further stressed the need strengthen ties between traditional rulers and government institutions to ensure inclusive development.
He noted that embracing unity and working collectively would bridge gaps in leadership while ensuring the South East region benefits from national opportunities.
According to him, traditional rulers should actively contribute to national progress, particularly in key sectors such as security, healthcare, and peacebuilding, while upholding cultural values that define their heritage.
Responding on behalf of the visiting delegation, Alhaji Kasim Yawa commended Igwe Asadu for his hospitality and leadership, describing him as a man of passion and great value.
He reiterated that courtesy visits to revered traditional leaders remain a vital tradition of the council, aimed at fostering unity and strengthening relationships despite cultural, tribal, and political differences.
He emphasized that such engagements provide opportunities to build bridges and promote national cohesion.

The visit was attended by key members of the NCTRN, including Chief John Chika Akaehielam, in charge operation officer in charge of southern Nigeria. Hon. Waziri Ibrahim Gimba, operation officer in charge of Northern Nigeria. Rasheedat Audu, Admin officer, Musah Abdurahim, and Alhaji Abubakar. Several traditional rulers from Enugu North Senatorial district also graced the occasion, among them HRH Igwe Dr. Herbert Ukuta, HRH Igwe Dr. HL Ezeh, HRH Igwe Vincent Ugwuanyi, and HRH Igwe Prof. Sir V.C. Onah. The event served as a platform to discuss national unity, cultural preservation, and the evolving role of traditional leadership in Nigeria among others.
