Monkeypox:Enugu South Council Boss Urges Citizens To Accept Vaccine

The campaign against Monkeypox popularly called Mpox has commenced in Enugu South Council Area, with a visit to the Executive Chairman, Hon. Caleb Ani, by the Campaign team led by Mrs. Juliet Ogoh.

The aim is to educate the public on preventive measures and ensure widespread vaccination to combat the disease.

Hon. Ani became the first recipient of the vaccine demonstrating the safety and importance of the vaccination.

He urged the residents of Enugu South to participate in the exercise. “This vaccination has no negative effects and poses no harm to the body. It is a vital step towards safeguarding our health,” he stated.

The chairman commended the State Governor, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, for initiating the health programme which he described as essential for the wellbeing of the people.

He emphasized that the campaign and vaccination drive are proactive measures to prevent the spread of Monkeypox and protect the population from its potentially devastating impact.

Those on the team include Mrs. Juliet Ogo, officials of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) and the Head, Health Department in Enugu South Local Government, Mr. Steve.

The delegation visited Enugu South council chairman to formally flag off the exercise and outline the next steps in the campaign.

The leader of the team, Mrs. Juliet Ogoh, thanked the council chairman for his support to programme, saying it will go a long way to ensure the smooth drive during the vaccination.

As part of the campaign strategy, the team shall tour various communities within Enugu South Local Government Area to ensure effective implementation.

The initiative underscores the government’s commitment to a healthier and safer state, reinforcing the importance of public cooperation in the fight against Monkeypox.
