The Chief of Staff to the Governor of Enugu State, Victor Udeh, has formally registered as a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), using the occasion to call for increased participation of professionals and technocrats in the nation’s political process.
Mr Udeh completed his registration over the weekend at Obodo Upo in Umabi Ward, Udi Local Government Area, as part of the APC’s ongoing electronic membership registration exercise.
The event drew party leaders, stakeholders and supporters from across the area.
Addressing attendees, the senior legal practitioner said the involvement of skilled professionals in politics would enhance governance and promote more responsive leadership.
According to him, politics provides the platform through which individuals can attain positions of authority and influence policy for the benefit of society.
He stressed that meaningful engagement with constituents and communities remains central to effective political representation.
Mr Udeh also pointed to what he described as notable development projects undertaken by Governor Peter Mbah’s administration in Udi Local Government Area and other parts of the state.
He cited initiatives in education, healthcare, road infrastructure and agriculture as evidence of ongoing transformation.
He encouraged residents to remain politically active, including by registering as party members and participating in the electoral process ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In his remarks, the Deputy National Chairman of APC (South), Emma Eneukwu, said the transition from manual to electronic membership registration was designed to produce a more credible and verifiable party database.
He noted that strengthening the party’s internal structure was key to its preparedness for future elections.
Mr Eneukwu commended Governor Mbah’s leadership and urged party supporters to take full advantage of the registration exercise as part of broader civic engagement.
Other dignitaries at the event included the Speaker of the Enugu State House of Assembly, Uchenna Ugwu; the Chairman of Udi Local Government Area, Hyginus Agu; the Chairman of the Enugu APC Caretaker Committee, Ben Nwoye; and a former state party chairman, Ugochukwu Agballa.
They praised the turnout and described the development as a significant step in consolidating the party’s presence in the state.
The registration exercise formed part of APC’s wider efforts to expand its membership base and deepen grassroots participation.
