The Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support Project (L-PRES) has urged livestock farmers and value-chain entrepreneurs in Enugu State to take advantage of the benefits in the ongoing nationwide online Livestock Farmers’ Registration.

The L-PRES is a general livestock development project funded by the World Bank, Federal Government and State Governments, which included Enugu State Government.

The L-PRES State Project Coordinator in Enugu State, Dr Ifeyinwa Nnajieze, told newsmen in Enugu that the registration rate in the state within over eight months had been relatively low.

Nnajieze said that “the registration is free and not tax-driven”.

She noted that the online Livestock registration for the 17 council areas in the state, which is 11,000 presently, remained low compared with the numerous livestock ventures embarked upon by residents of the state especially women and youths.

She said that the residents should discountenance the unfounded rumour that the registration had something to do with taxation, adding that the registration had nothing to do with taxation and data collected reflects only in L-PRES data-bank in Abuja.

According to her, those to register are livestock farmers into poultry, cattle, goat, sheep, rabbit, piggery rearing among others as well as others in the value-chain of livestocks such as livestock sellers, suppliers, feed providers among others.

She said, “We have been having issues with the registration since some of the council areas, we have made advocacy visits to, are not fully represented.

“As the Federal Government has established Ministry of Livestock, most of the inputs, incentives and training to be distributed will base on available data at the L-PRES Headquarters, Abuja; and same data will be used for planning and special interventions.

“Our people should register online where they are (their business locations or headquarters) as we have GPS/geo-coordinate to capture their registrations even from remote locations.

“We are appealing to our people into livestock value-chain to register and inform their colleagues so that tomorrow no one should cry of marginalisation as L-PRES officials will be working with data collected via its current online registration.”

The project coordinator noted that due to low registration, L-PRES had to embark on advocacy visit to Chairmen of the 17 council areas, adding that “the registration is for everyone resident in the state engaged in livestock farming or value-chain business.”

She said, “You can within few minutes fill the L-PRES Livestock Online Registration form through this link: https://form.jotform.com/241236730271550

“Do not do double registration but if there is any difficult in filling the online form, please come to our office on 11/13 Ubochi Street, Behind Fire Service, Otigba Junction, Enugu and we will ensure it is done free of charge.”
