Governor Chukwuma Soludo, Tuesday, inaugurated the members of the Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission, (ANSIEC)
The six-member commission, is chaired by Magistrate Chinelo Genevieve Osakwe.
Other members of the commission include, Mrs.Bernadine Obande, Barr. Osita Cyril Igbokwe, Sir Chinedu Anthony Nnalue, Mrs. Helen Ifeyinwa Umeh and Mr. John Emeka Okeke.
The inauguration, which took place at the Governor’s Lodge, Amawbia, is coming after over one decade since the last local government election was conducted in the state.

The governor urged the members of the Commission to render nothing short of sterling service to the people of Anambra.
He stated that the terms of reference of the commission include organising, undertaking and supervising all elections and matters pertaining to elections to the elective offices in the LG councils in the state.
Soludo said the commission’s function under the Anambra Electoral Law 2024, shall include the division of the area of the LG into wards or constituencies as prescribed by law for the purpose of the elections to be conducted.
